AIR+

Megastructures that destroy the urban environment, have become megastructures creating a city. Conversion of the existing 2,5-dimensional urban landscape to real 3D. Now there are no centers and peripheries. Solving the problem of density and connectivity gives an impulse to the integration of the poor population. Step by step, while some persons and neighborhoods select, settle and develop (using a wise mixture of inventive slum tactics and latest technologies) their new sites on flying islands, different plots of underlying land are regenerating in succession of wild species. A network of rewilded plots slowly creates its own network and later dissolves former slum areas. The soil is our most important resource - due to freeing the earth from human influence, we are giving the opportunity for the soil to recover. The soil is cleared to create green areas and agricultural lands, which give a positive effect on air and water filtration.

STEP 1

The towers start to be printed from carbon at the corners of the territory.
Printers divide CO2 and CH4, using carbon for construction, and releasing oxygen and water into the atmosphere, cooling it, hydrogen is used as fuel for construction.

Stretching of first cables from carbon nanotubes.

Creating first platforms.

Resettlement of the first dwellers, they exchange their houses for plots on the platform. Treating part of unclean soil.

Creating new platforms by using cleaned local soil. Creating a natural landscape.

Sustainable and flexible city. Inhabitants moved to platforms. Soil is clean and used for agriculture and green open spaces as parks and forests.
Green spaces purify air, water, return healthy soil and diversity of plant and animal life.

AIR+ has optimal dimensions - a cube with a side of 3 km. There are multifunctional «columns» in the corners of the plot, each floor of the «column» has its functional filling (production, vertical farms, offices, public functions). «Columns» stretch cables from carbon nanotubes. Platforms are held on the cables. 
Cables are not only a structural element of the new city but also fulfill the functions necessary for society. Cables penetrate the city in all semi-random directions to allocate bearing, create overlapping bearing contours for greater structural reliability and to distribute transportation access equally, avoiding center-periphery dualism of flat Cartesian grid. 
The formation of a neighborhood system ensures the preservation of local communities. Each community site has a community center. In it people receive primary education, it performs the function of kindergarten, it provides additional education for adults, as well as a place for entertainment and celebrations.

Sustainable development of the site has two focal points: landscape and community.  
Community-based social continuity gives every person, family, or neighborhood affordance to find a separate or a common plot of elevated land and to separate themselves from a former community and to build a new one - or to move community as a whole organism, even with a legacy of some physical structures, building materials, and principles. Social changes will be achieved not through one of two ways which have been compromised in XX century: total modernization of neighborhood or violent mixture of different social groups. But through the mixture of local neighborhood succession and end-to-end accessibility, which are integral features of 3D mesh.  A system of multi-step lifelong involvement and education facilities makes new jobs affordable for all yesterday slum dwellers.
Social integration is provided by mixed-use of the territory, abandonment of the caste system, joint work, and education of different layers of the population.
